What is ILL?

What is Interlibrary Loan?

When you want a book or an article that Lamson doesn't have, we can get it for you FOR FREE from another library, through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).  You don't need to know what other library, we figure that out for you. You can borrow books, which are sent through the mail, or articles, which are sent electronically.

.

  • Click on the Interlibrary Loan link at the bottom of the library website.

You will see this screen:

You will then be asked to choose to see your requests, or create a new request:

When you create a request, you will be asked to fill in information about the book or article you are requesting.  Our catalog, and many of our databases, work with this service to populate the forms for you, so you don't need to know all the details of your citation.

  • Any articles you request will be sent to you electronically, often they are available in under 2 days. You will receive an email when an article you requested arrives.

  • You will also receive an email for  books that you request.  Books will be held for you at the information desk at the library for you to pick up and check out.

If you have any questions, contact your librarian or your instructor.

Also, with your PSU I.D. card, you can use most other academic libraries in New Hampshire.
