The Commons Cafe in Lamson Library and Learning commons welcomes the photography of PSU student Ashley Clark. Technically defined as self-portraits, Ms. Clark’s work represents women in different eras, all uniquely portrayed by the photographer herself.
My work does not demean or praise any one particular type of woman. Rather it creates equality between all women in their selected roles……These women can be whatever you want them to be. Afterall, that is what women have been taught since birth. These women are you, me and the girl next door. Only together do they have a voice. Only together can they be heard.
The Artist as Witness, the work of Vermont printmaker Penelope Bennett, is also on display on the Main Level of Lamson.

Ashley:
Good to see your work on display in the Commons Cafe. The “Broom,” and “Scream,” are my favorite pieces with just the right amount of mystery to them both.

Ashley,
Enjoyed your exhibit a lot! Most photographers don’t make themselves part of their pictures, but you choose to play two roles - very well.
Keep up the great work!
