Currency from Around the World on Display at Lamson

display currency apr 09

The Lamson Library and Learning Commons is pleased to welcome a display of worldwide currency from the collection of PSU Instructor Najwa O’Hara. In a description of her collection, Ms. O’Hara wrote:

I am a native of Iraq who was born in Mosul, a small city in the north of Iraq.
The Bachelor’s degree in Translation that I hold, along with my experience with international companies, qualified me to help build bridges of communication with Iraqi citizens by teaching Americans businesses every day Arabic words that they may use in their operations.

As an Instructor for Arabic Language and Culture at Plymouth State University, I hope I will be able to help American students, who are interested in other cultures, by introducing them to Arabic as a language and culture that may need one day.

Most of the currencies are from my travels with my husband and others are from the faculty members in the Language and Linguistics Department who collected them during their travels abroad.

The currency will be on display through April.
