New technologies are continuously emerging. These technologies are critical to the criminal justice system’s ability to achieve its goals of preventing and controlling crime, administering justice, and assisting crime victims. Students are exposed to contemporary issues related to the use of emerging technologies in the criminal justice system. Topics include officer protection and crime prevention, public safety in critical incidents, communication and information technology, and investigative and investigative and forensic sciences.
Officer protection is greatly enhanced with such products as ballistic helmets and visors, ballistic- and stab-resistant body armor, stab- and pathogen-resistant gloves, riot shields, and other items.
