Advanced Searching with Subject Terms
In EBSCO databases, each article will be tagged with number of subject terms. These terms are applied to every article in the database that is primarily about that subject.
There are a number of different ways to use subject terms.
- Click from article description
- When you click the article title to read its description, the subject terms will be hyperlinked. Click on one to search for all of the articles tagged with that subject term.
- Search for the subject term
- Identify a subject term, then type it in to the search field, but instead of Keyword, choose Subject, or Subject Terms.
- Use the Thesaurus
- Each database has a thesaurus of Subject Terms. In MEDLINE, it’s called MeSH2020. In SPORTDiscus, it’s called Thesaurus. In HealthSource, it’s called Subject Terms. Fortunately, the links may go by different names, but they are all in the same location in each database.
