Accessing Library Ebooks

Ebook are exactly like print books, but can be read online or downloaded to acomputer, tablet, or phone for offline reading or printing.

Unlike print books, most ebooks from Lamson allow unlimited user access, which means multiple patrons can read them at one time.

This guide will show you how to discover, access, and use library ebooks.

Searching for Ebooks

When you search the library, the format of each search result is shown below the author(s) and above the summary (see screenshot below). You can check the "ebook" box on the left side of the search results to see only ebooks. Once you've selected one, click "View eBook".

Viewing Ebooks Online

A page with complete information about the ebook will open in a new tab or window. On the left side is a button for EPUB Full Text or PDF Full Text, highlighted below. Click this to open and read the book online.

Navigating Ebooks

You can navigate through ebooks in several ways:

Search Within to search the full text of the book.
Click the title of a chapter along the left side of the screen to jump to the beginning of that chapter.
Use the minus - or plus + signs in the lower right corner to zoom in or out.
Click the < arrow keys > at the bottom of the screen to click through the book's pages. The arrows on your keyboard, or the scroll wheel or pad on your computer will also work.

Accessing Ebooks Offline

Ebooks can be downloaded, emailed, or printed for offline viewing, but not all ebooks support all methods. Please contact us if you have questions.

Saving pages as PDF

Navigate to the desired section or page, Click the Save Pages link at the top, then select your desired range.

Emailing Pages of an Ebook

Navigate to the desired section, click the E-mail Pages link, choose your desired page range, enter your email address, then click "Email PDF".

Downloading an Ebook

If the book's length exceeds the number of pages allowed for saving as a PDF, you can download the entire book to read later.

Sharing an Ebook URL

Do not copy the URL from the browser's web address bar. It will not work later!

Instead, look for the permalink button, then copy and paste it anywhere: an email, Word doc, Canvas link, etc. You can share permalinks with other people, and they will need to login with their PSU credentials to read them.
