Web of Science
This citation index helps you search over 10,000 journals and over 150,000 conference proceedings. You’ll find both current and past coverage. WoS also lets you explore the relationships between articles on a topic.
OpenSky
This database offers free access to many works written or published by NCAR scientists and UCAR staff as well as citations for works still under publisher embargo. Covering atmospheric and geosciences as well as related fields, the database contains mostly peer reviewed articles, but also grey literature (abstracts, proceedings, and presentations.)
AMS Journals Online
Search the contents of the American Meteorological Society publications, in some cases dating back to the 1800s. Full text of Bulletin of AMS and the journal Earth Interactions is available up through the current issue. For all other publications full text is available for articles published 1 year ago or earlier.
Google Scholar
Searches scholarly literature indexed by Google. Some articles are available in full text; for others you can use our Interlibrary Loan system (see information on left.)

Setup Scholar for off-campus
arXiv
arXiv is recommended for topics in atmospheric physics and modeling. arXiv provides early access to preprints of scholarly articles (which often later appear in conventional journals).

Free access to climate data published online from the National Climatic Data Center.

These links provide quick access to many of the National Climactic Data Center's climate and weather datasets, products, and various web pages and resources.
Monthly Weather Review
Contains a combination of articles and climate data. From 1872 to 1980 varying levels of detail are available, sometimes in an article titled "Weather and Circulation." Issues after 1980 do not include this type of data.
New England Climatological Data Microfiche
REF QC983 .A54
Very detailed weather information for the 6 New England states from 1896 to 1992. Each monthly issue contains summary descriptions of each month's weather, daily precipitation amounts and high/low temperatures for each weather station, dates of thunderstorms, auroras, fog, etc.
Plymouth State Climatological Data
Items in this collection represent campus weather observations taken by Plymouth State University faculty and students between the 1970s and 2000s. The data includes measurements of temperature, pressure, precipitation, and other parameters from a variety of analog instrumentation.

Dissertation Abstracts Online
This database contains citations and abstracts for over 2 million dissertations.

In most cases, you can read the first 25 pages of a dissertation. The "Order a Copy" option does not link to the PSU Interlibrary Loan System. To request a full dissertation go to the Interlibrary Loan Page and fill out a request form.
Open Access Theses and Dissertations
Search theses and dissertations that are freely available online from over 800 colleges and universities.
Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations
Full text collection of over 800,000 dissertations from many disciplines.

If you need a book or article that PSU does not have you can request the article through Interlibrary Loan.

This service is free to all PSU students, faculty, and staff.

Go to the Interlibrary Loan Page.
Click on the Create Request, choose the material type you want, then fill out the request form.
Articles are delivered to your interlibrary loan account in PDF format, usually in 2-5 business days.
Books are delivered to Lamson and can be picked up at the information desk in 1-2 weeks.
